1How Black Friday Streaming Deals Work
Every Black Friday, streaming services cut their prices hard for a short time. You see offers like $0.99 a month for a year, or a few months at $1.99 or $2.99. Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, and in past years most of these deals went live that week and ended around Cyber Monday.
The low price is real, but it is only the start. Each deal is a normal monthly plan with a discount for a set number of months. When those months are over, the plan keeps going on its own at the regular price, charged to the same card, until you cancel.
That is the whole business idea. The service is betting that many people will forget the end date, or will not bother to cancel, and will keep paying full price for months. In 2021, for example, a Roku Channel offer put Showtime, Starz, Epix and Noggin at $0.99 a month for two months, and the posted terms said the plan would automatically renew at original rates until you cancel.
Note: as of October 11, 2026, we have not found any confirmed Black Friday 2026 streaming offers. Every deal in this guide is from a past year and has ended. We use them to show how these offers are built, not to predict this year's prices.
2What You Pay When the Deal Ends
The table below lists real Black Friday deals from past years next to what the same plan costs at its regular US monthly price today. The regular prices come from our list of every 2026 streaming price increase, plus the current HBO Max price.
| Service | Plan | Black Friday | Promo price | Promo length | Regular price today |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hulu | With ads | 2022 | $1.99 a month | 12 months | $12.49 |
| Paramount+ | Essential | 2023 | $1.99 a month | 3 months | $8.99 |
| Hulu | With ads | 2024 | $0.99 a month | 12 months | $12.49 |
| Max | With ads, now HBO Max Basic with Ads | 2024 | $2.99 a month | 6 months | $10.99 |
| Disney+ and Hulu | Bundle with ads | 2025 | $4.99 a month | 12 months | $12.99 |
| Paramount+ | Essential or Premium | 2025 | $2.99 a month | 2 months | $8.99 or $13.99 |
Note: regular prices are standard US monthly prices paid directly to each service, as of October 11, 2026, before tax. If you pay through Apple, Google Play, Roku or Amazon, your price can be different.
A year of Hulu with ads cost $11.88 on the 2024 Black Friday deal. A year at today's regular price costs $149.88.
The gap also grows over time. When Hulu ran its $1.99 deal in 2022, the terms said the plan would renew at $7.99 a month or the then-current regular price. Hulu with ads now costs $12.49 a month. The price you see on the sign-up page is not the price you are promised later.
Short deals can catch a price rise too. Paramount+ ran a two-month deal at $2.99 a month in late 2025, then raised its US prices in mid-January 2026. Anyone who kept the plan rolled straight onto the new, higher price.
3Who Can Actually Get the Deal
Most Black Friday streaming deals are not for everyone. The usual wording is "new and eligible returning subscribers." If you already pay for the service, you are almost always left out, even if you have been a customer for years.
"Eligible returning" has its own rule. In 2022, Hulu meant people who had not been Hulu subscribers in the past month. Max's 2024 deal was open to returning subscribers whose plan had expired or been canceled. So if you cancel a plan you already have just to get the deal, expect to go without it for a while first.
Read the small print for these limits too:
Only one plan qualifies. Most deals cover the plan with ads, not the ad-free one. Paramount+ limited its 2025 deal to monthly plans, and the 2025 Disney+ and Hulu deal left out bundles with ESPN.
Where you sign up matters. In 2024, reports said the Hulu deal had to be claimed on Hulu's own website, not through an app store purchase. Some deals also need a promo code, like the BLACKFRIDAY code Paramount+ used in 2023.
The window is short. Hulu's 2022 deal ran from November 23 to November 28. Max's 2024 deal ran from November 25 to December 2. Miss it by a day and you pay the normal price from the start.
Did you know? Some add-on deals do include current subscribers. In 2025, Hulu let both new and existing subscribers add Starz or HBO Max for $2.99 a month for a year. These still end and renew at full price, so treat them the same way.
4Why Stacking Deals Piles Up Renewals
Black Friday deals all start in the same few days. That means they also end in the same few days. If you take three or four of them, you are not just signing up for cheap streaming, you are setting up a group of full-price charges that all land together later.
Here is roughly when deals taken on November 27, 2026 would end, based on the promo lengths seen in past years:
Two months: late January 2027, when holiday credit card bills arrive. Three months: late February 2027. Six months: late May 2027. Twelve months: late November 2027, right as the next holiday season starts.
Example scenario: you take three 12-month deals over Black Friday weekend, for Hulu with ads, HBO Max Basic with Ads and Peacock Premium. A year later, all three renew within a few days of each other. At today's regular prices, that is $36.47 a month, or $437.64 a year, starting the same week. And by then, the regular prices may be higher.
Because each charge comes from a different company, they show up as separate lines on your statement. It is easy to notice one and miss the other two.
5Your Checklist Before You Sign Up
A Black Friday deal is a good deal only if you control the end of it. Take two minutes before you tap "Subscribe" and go through these steps in order.
Write down the promo end date. Count the months from your sign-up day. A 12-month deal started on November 27 ends around November 27 of the next year. Check the account page after you sign up, since it often shows the date of the first full-price charge.
Write down the price after the promo. Find the regular monthly price for the exact plan you picked, not just the service. Add tax if your state charges it. This is the number you are agreeing to pay later.
Set a reminder a few days before the end date. Do not rely on an email from the service. Pick a date at least three days early so you have time to cancel or switch plans.
Decide now whether you will keep it. Ask yourself one question: would you pay the full price for this service? If the answer is no, plan to cancel before the end date. Some services let you cancel right away and still keep watching until the paid period ends, so check the cancel screen.
Log it as a recurring payment. Add it to wherever you keep your subscription list, with the promo price, the full price and the end date. A $0.99 charge is easy to ignore, which is exactly why it needs to be on the list.
These are the same habits that protect you from free trials that turn into paid plans. Our guide to what to check before you start a free trial covers the tricks services use to make canceling harder.
6What to Do When the Promo Ends
When your reminder goes off, look at how much you actually used the service during the deal. Then pick one of these options.
Keep it at full price if you use it every week. That is a fine choice, as long as it is a choice and not something that just happened.
Cancel before the end date if you only watched one or two shows. You can always come back later, and you may qualify as a returning subscriber for next year's deal.
Start to cancel and see what you are offered. Some services show a discount when you try to leave. Our guide on why canceling can get you a better offer explains how these offers work and when they are worth taking.
Already paid full price? Contact the service soon and ask for a refund of the charge, especially if you have not watched anything since. It is not guaranteed, but it is worth asking. Our guide on getting a refund for a subscription you forgot to cancel walks through what to say and where to ask.
7Log Every Deal as a Recurring Payment
The hard part of a Black Friday deal is not finding it. It is remembering it two, six or twelve months later, when the price quietly goes up and nothing on your phone tells you.
Add each deal to TrackAutoPay the day you sign up, with the promo price, the full price and the date the promo ends. Smart Tracking reminds you before each renewal, and Manual Organization lets you change the amount once the full price kicks in, so your monthly total always matches what really leaves your account.
